Wilfried Nancy declared he had no concerns about the sack, claiming, “We are really close to changing our fortunes,” despite moving dangerously close to the chopping block with a convincing defeat by Rangers.
Another Meltdown Sees Derby Disaster
Celtic had led the visitors at the break but a second-half capitulation let Rangers to draw level on points with the reigning league title holders. Nancy, who was hired in December, has now been in charge for six defeats in his last eight games.
“There is unity with the board,” said the manager.
Questioned about his own future, he responded: “That’s not my focus. I think about working out methods to aid my players to excel on small moments.
Supporters' Anger On Display
Hundreds of supporters made their feelings clear – towards the hierarchy – in their hundreds at Parkhead. The hierarchy are thought to be considering to re-appoint the interim manager, who had a fruitful temporary stint before Nancy was hired, if Nancy departs.
“It’s the results [that leads to pressure]. So this is the reality for the moment. However when I say that’s how it is, I am not saying that I am pessimistic. Absolutely not. The message is we are on the cusp, really, really close to turn things around.”

Nancy remains focused on the fact his team show good levels for a half at a time. Indeed, but for missed chances they would have been more than 1-0 up. “There were positives aside from the fact that we missed more goals,” he said. “I acknowledge that we lost, but it's important to stay objective.
“The performance we had at stages was exceptionally high. That happened. I wouldn't say that if it was different. But that’s why, when it comes to wins, I noted we've seen this before. Which is why I said that a change is coming to a shift in fortunes. Right now: details, details, details.”
“There were many, many good things that we did, as was the case today. But now comes down to sustaining it. My message would change the same. That’s why I am a big believer we will manage to fix this.”
The Rangers Boss Outlook
Rangers manager was cautious about a title charge despite what appeared to be a huge result. “One match at a time, so we can really build up momentum,” he said. “The confidence in the group is immense.”
