More than 50 lone child asylum seekers who vanished not long after arriving the UK and while in the care of the authorities are yet to be found, according to data gathered.

A significant number of the unaccounted minors arrived in vessels or stowed away in the backs of trucks and are presumed to have been seized by traffickers. This region is frequently the location where they first land.

Official Data Shows Disturbing Totals

Disclosed information has registered 345 children disappearing from the region, with 56 of those still missing.

From 2021 and 2023, when temporary accommodations for children functioned along with other sites in different regions, 132 children disappeared from these facilities. Among them, 108 were subsequently located but 24 are remain unaccounted for.

From 2020 and August 2025, 213 children vanished from care facilities for these minors, with 182 recovered and 32 yet to be accounted for.

Origin Statistics of Vanished Minors

In each instance, youths of Albanian origin were the biggest contingent to vanish, making up 50% the total from the hotels, 68, and more than a quarter from the welcome hubs, 65.

The second and third largest origins to have disappeared from the two settings are Afghans then Iranian nationals.
