Netflix Casts Perfect Actor for Bentham in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is geared up to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the major clash isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a beloved, popular member has recently been selected.

The streaming service revealed recently that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Mr. 2. This character possesses the power to morph into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. Escola, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will play a interpretation of that figure re-envisioned as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action show, unlike the original manga and animated series.

Escola joins a number of recently announced actors who will portray the organization to reality, such as leader Sir Crocodile, played by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and a familiar face, who is also part of the cast as the monarch of Alabasta.

Though the role is a key figure of Baroque Works, the character won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. With the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this represents a major departure in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could signal more adjustments to the narrative framework.

The actor’s combination of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the role. In addition to their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.

The platform’s adapted One Piece series is set to return for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
