Shock as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country struggling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old media personality was confronted by a trio of assailants, one of whom began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, as per the official statement.
Details of the Attack
Police revealed that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the property managing the setup of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the deceased was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities said.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and wearing what appeared to be a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before running away.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and nothing was taken during the attack.
Crucial forensic evidence, like cartridges, were recovered from the location.
Appeal for Witnesses
Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.
"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the attack, and investigators have been following their trail to determine their whereabouts," remarked an authority figure.

His family member, Nicole Stock, stated the loved ones are reeling to process his death.
"Words fail me. I cannot express the pain," she stated.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were willing to discuss. This is a tremendous loss."
She requested the citizens to not sharing graphic images from the scene, explaining this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's three sons.

Beyond his role as a presenter, Stock was engaged in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including private security, supplying high-level security services and protecting major functions across South Africa.
