Three Shortlisted for Young Athlete of the Year Prize

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the this year's Young Sports Star of the Year award.
These three athletes have been recognised for their remarkable achievements over the previous year.
Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the very first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a unprecedented innings.
Littler won the award in 2024 after his remarkable rise.
The shortlisted athletes were announced live on a widely-listened-to radio show.
The 2025 recipient will be unveiled on the prestigious sports ceremony show on December 18th.
The event will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.
She came off the bench to score crucial late equalisers in both the last eight and last four matches.
Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.
Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the top young European talent.
She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.
Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"Being nominated for this honour is an honour," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
The year started for Littler in spectacular fashion as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.
He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.
His success continued - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the maiden occasion.
At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, smashing the previous record.
"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a proud moment for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."
Davina Perrin
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and burst into the spotlight with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.
Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.
It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.
Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.
"I'm incredibly grateful to be nominated for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it encourages more girls to get into cricket."
